FalconView™

FalconView is a mapping tool for Windows which was developed for the US government.

It supports the display of aeronautical charts, satellite images and elevation maps. FalconView also supports a large number of overlay types that can be displayed over any map background. The current overlay set is targeted toward military mission planning users and is oriented towards aviators and aviation support personnel.

FalconView is an integral part of the Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS). This software suite includes FalconView, Combat Flight Planning Software (CFPS), Combat Weapon Delivery Software (CWDS), Combat Air Drop Planning Software (CAPS) and several other software packages built by various software contractors.

Who uses FalconView™?

FalconView is used by a large portion of the U.S. Air Force mission planning community and the U.S. Special Operations Forces. The initial version was used almost exclusively by U.S. Air Force F-16 pilots. Later versions were quickly adopted by other fighters as well as the airlift, bomber, and tanker communities. FalconView is currently used by all branches of the US Armed services and by a large number of Allied Countries.

Who developed FalconView™?

FalconView was developed by researchers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute located on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Additional information can be obtained by sending e-mail to Chris Bailey.
